The Process Behind Rose Garden
Creating Rose Garden was a journey of transforming a simple idea into a vibrant, heartfelt family portrait. Every brushstroke in this 22” x 28” acrylic on canvas was carefully considered to capture not only the likeness of its subjects but the emotions and memories tied to them. Here’s a look at the process that brought this piece to life.
The Process Behind Rose Garden
The project began with understanding the family’s story and vision. They wanted a piece that felt timeless yet personal, centered around a garden of roses that held special meaning for them. This initial conversation set the foundation for the composition, ensuring it would reflect their essence and become a cherished part of their home.

Sketching and Composition to Layers of Color and Texture
Before diving into the canvas, I created preliminary sketches to establish the layout. The roses, a symbol of love and beauty, were intertwined with the figures to represent the bond shared within the family. The design balanced realism with artistic expression, ensuring the final piece would feel alive and inviting.
Building Rose Garden required patience and layers. I started with subtle undertones to shape the figures and roses, gradually adding depth with vibrant colors and intricate details. The process involved blending soft highlights and shadows to create dimension while preserving the piece’s warmth and energy.

Bringing It to Life
One of the most rewarding aspects of painting Rose Garden was witnessing the transformation as details emerged. From the gentle folds of clothing to the petals of each rose, every element contributed to the story the family wanted to tell. Music often accompanied my work, infusing the studio with creativity and rhythm as the painting came together.
A Lasting Memory
The final piece isn’t just a painting—it’s a celebration of connection and memory. Rose Garden serves as a tribute to love and togetherness, capturing a moment in time that the family can revisit for years to come.
Art has the power to tell stories, and with Rose Garden, the story is both deeply personal and universally relatable—a reminder of the beauty in family and the lasting impact of shared moments.
